Work took me to DC for two days so I paid a visit the National Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center. This is the hanger over by the airport, not the one on the National Mall. I had always wanted to see a space shuttle up close and I was not disappointed.
Living 2 hours from mountains and 3 hours from the coast is amazing but it was just too far for day trips. We thought to explore North Carolina properly we would need a camper.
Step one was upgrading the vehicle. Although I was sad to see the Subaru Crosstrek go but I needed twice the cylinders for twice the horsepower. Enter the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
We looked at hundreds of trailers new and used. In the end we walked into the 2017 Ductchman Kodiak 252RLSL and we knew it was home.
The floorplan was important to us and we had the following requirements: separate bedroom with doors, space to entertain 4+, and not more than 25′ long.
We opted for the couch instead of swivel chairs and it is really comfortable. The amount of windows and natural light is what sold us. Who wants to go somewhere beautiful and stay in a box that you can’t see out of?
Another thing we learned that we wanted but didn’t know until we started looking was a slide in that didn’t cripple the function of the RV when pulled in. This one allows us to fully use our kitchen and eat in the dinette when slide in, great for on the road.
